Pastoral Support

The College of the Resurrection is well-known for its extensive system of pastoral support. Within the College there is a variety of sources of support, and students are encouraged to make use of whichever parts of the support system suit them best.

Personal Tutor – On arrival at the College, every student is assigned to a tutor group comprising a Tutor and a number of students from each year of admission. Your Tutor is your key contact on the College staff. He or she has primary responsibility for accompanying you as you are formed for ministry.

Tutor Group – Tutor groups are central to College life, and are a place where students learn to minister collaboratively, as each group takes responsibility in turn for ministry in a number of areas of College life. Tutor groups also meet socially, for prayer, and to reflect on their members’ experience of our corporate life as a College.

Principal – The Principal has overall responsibility for the formation of ordinands at the College, and often meets with ordinands to discuss matters connected with both their formation and their well-being. The Principal operates an open-door policy, and many students simply drop in to see him if they want to discuss anything.

Tutorial Staff – One of the advantages of training residentially in a small college is that staff and students are all able to get to know one another well. Students are encouraged to feel free to approach any member of staff about pastoral matters.

Director of Studies – The Director of Studies is responsible for the academic life of the College. He advises students in their choice of courses, ensures that students are able to meet University regulations, supports students at key points in their academic study, and provides day-to-day guidance in all academic matters.
